America’s Obsession with Pork Ribs
Ribs are simply a barbecue favorite. They are the perfect messy food, and if cooked and seasoned to perfection, ribs are nearly impossible to resist (even for the most dedicated vegetarians). In fact, there is probably no bigger celebration than when McDonald’s announces the release of the McRib each year. And, the service industry has caught up with the demand too, as 41% of family dining and 40% of casual dining restaurants serve BBQ Pork Ribs. It’s safe to say that we are all a little obsessed.
What’s all the fuss about?
Obviously, what we love the most about ribs is their delicious taste. It’s all about the juicy, perfectly seasoned, and tender barbecue flavor. But, we also love that ribs are the perfect meal to enjoy with family and friends on any occasion. Celebrations and parties for graduations, holidays, and promotions are always enhanced with the great taste of prime rib. And, whether you are cooking your own ribs at home or enjoying a night out at your local barbecue joint, ribs are a decadent delight. Here are some fun facts:
- The world’s longest barbecue lasted 80 hours
- There are four different types of pork ribs: Baby back, St. Louis-style, Country style, and Spareribs
- The original style of rib was most likely mammoth
